     BETANCOURT, VAN HEMMEN, GRECO & KENYON is engaged in the general practice of law, with a concentration in the areas of admiralty and maritime law, civil and commercial litigation and bankruptcy. The firm’s attorneys have all previously practiced with larger maritime and commercial law firms in New York City. Maintaining a principal office in Red Bank, New Jersey allows the firm to provide cost effective service to its clients, but with the quality expected of experienced maritime and commercial counsel. 

     The firm's maritime practice includes marine insurance, personal injury defense, charter party arbitration, marine casualties, stevedoring and terminal operations, carriage of goods and longshore and harborworkers' compensation defense. Members of the firm have backgrounds in the United States Merchant Marine and Navy. 

     Our civil and commercial litigation experience involves disputes arising from commercial contracts, merger and acquisition activity, real estate transactions, environmental issues and property casualty insurance cases. The firm’s attorneys are admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and New York.

     Our  bankruptcy experience includes representation, primarily in Chapter 11 proceedings, of debtors, secured creditors, unsecured creditors, unsecured creditors' committees and asset purchasers. The firm also engages in pre-bankruptcy counseling and out-of-court reorganization where appropriate.

     The firm’s general practice includes corporate transactions, estate planning, wills, trusts and real estate transactions. Our general civil litigation experience includes employment discrimination, personal injury and probate cases. 

     The firm's clients include vessel owners and operators, vessel charterers, non-vessel common carriers, marine construction companies, stevedoring and terminal operators, marine underwriters, P & I Clubs, oil companies, and companies undergoing reorganization.
